Lisa D. Sinrod has been practicing in the area of family and juvenile law for over 25 years in Northern Virginia. She graduated from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University in the fall of 1983. During the summer of 1983, she conducted a domestic relations/mediation independent study with her family law professor. She was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in May, 1984 and immediately began her practice focusing on all aspects of family law/domestic relations, including child custody, support matters, property division, prenuptial agreements, and marital dissolution/divorce. She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.

The majority of Ms. Sinrod’s practice involves representing individuals in family law matters, with an eye toward productive negotiations and settlement where possible. Additionally, as a trained family law mediator, Ms. Sinrod has worked with parties in the mediation process throughout her years of practice and has a high rate of full resolution in her mediated cases. Ms. Sinrod also serves as a state-qualified guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of minor children in our Virginia court system.

Ms. Sinrod has served as a Commissioner in Chancery for the Alexandria Circuit Court since 1990, rendering recommended decisions in fault-ground divorce cases. Ms. Sinrod has also served on various Bar committees, both on the local and statewide levels.

Ms. Sinrod was raised in the Washington metropolitan area. She moved to Virginia in 1981 and presently resides in Fairfax County.

Support Staff

Carol Aron, MSW, has served as paralegal to the firm since 1996. Ms. Aron brings extensive educational and on-the-job experience in working with clients throughout the family law process. She has previously designed courses for the Northern Virginia Women’s Center and is an asset to our practice in all phases of client assistance and support.

Carla Askey provides secretarial and word processing support. Ms. Askey has worked with the firm since 1987. She has worked in many areas of the law and this background has given her professional skills which make her a tremendous asset to this family law practice.
